Wetherby High School

 PARENTS:

Work Experience

All pupils in Year 10 take part in work experience and Wetherby High School has gained an excellent reputation amongst employers for the attitude and application of our pupils. They attend their placement for 2 weeks in July and, for the vast majority of pupils, the experience proves to be beneficial in terms of learning what happens in the 'outside' world and as an incentive to study hard at school!

All pupils at Wetherby High School have lessons to prepare them for life after school.

CAREERS/ENTERPRISE

In conjunction with PHSCE they consider the implications of stereotyping and are given advice about what is required for employment - such as: composing CV's, writing application forms, where to find appropriate career's advice. The library has an excellent paper based section on Careers and every computer in school has Kudos installed - a personal analytical career's tool. Outside providers come into school during Year 11 to give an intensive 2 day course for all students on the recruitment process and what employers are looking for.

A Career's Advisor from Leeds IGEN comes into school regularly and all students in Years 10 and 11 have the opportunity for a one to one discussion.  Parents are welcome to attend these interviews. Year 10 students visit the Career's Convention held in the Leeds Armouries.

Staff at Wetherby High School are aware of the importance of making our students
