New Attendance Initiative

Good attendance and punctuality is extremely important if students are to achieve their best and get the most out of their time at school.

At the beginning of the year a series of assemblies were given to launch a new initiative which will reward students with 100% attendance and those who significantly improve their attendance.  Students were told about the significant negative effect of absence.  For example an attendance rate of 90% may appear to be good but it actually means that the student is missing one half day per week.  This has been shown to lower a student's GCSE grades by one grade in each subject.

The new initiative will reward those students who achieve 100% attendance or those who significantly improve their attendance.  At the end of each term those students will be awarded a certificate and in addition to this there will be a prize draw for each year group from the names of the certificate winners.  The winner of the prize draw will receive two free cinema tickets.  There will also be an overall prize draw from all of the certificate winners across the school for an iPod nano plus a 25 pounds iTunes voucher.
