 Community: Partner Schools
Primary Links
Wetherby High School has developed its existing links with feeder primary schools over the past years. In addition new links have been formed with a range of additional schools. Our primary links form one of the most important elements of the community strand of specialist status activities. The activities run by the school have included sessions in our new design centre for primary students and training for primary teachers. Both of these activities have mainly concentrated on the Control Systems and CAD/CAM areas of the Design and Technology curriculum. It is the intention to develop more links with more feeder schools which will offer more staff and schools a greater range of opportunities. This already includes a variety of special schools and a complex learning unit.
 
This has been a really rewarding experience for all involved especially seeing the students leaving the courses with their carefully made project and with new learning skills. All of the students have taken away at least one quality and a quite complex item, and without exception all have enjoyed their day!
 
Secondary Links
We have a variety of links with our AST Design Teacher in many secondary Leeds schools including our commitment to the delivery of professional development through three yearly meetings (open to all Leeds Design Technology teachers).
