Learning excellence for the whole community

Wetherby High School is located at the centre of the historic market town of Wetherby, nestling on the border of North Yorkshire. Wetherby is a thriving business community built around an attractive town centre with its elegant market place, town hall, individual shops and cafes.

Wetherby High School is a highly successful school, a school for its students and for the whole community. The ethos of the school is rooted in the happiness and growth of each individual, in conjunction with excellence in its widest sense. We believe in the achievement of every individual in an environment where young people can be inspired and can flourish. Ours is a culture of creativity, confidence and care.

We are a high achieving school at GCSE and A Level with the vast majority of our students following academic routes through to university. We value the achievements of all, in every field of learning and skill.

It is our purpose to seek out the skills, talents and abilities of every young person and to develop that potential, combined with a passion for lifelong learning. High standards of progress and learning excellence are our hallmarks.

The school's moral purpose is clear. We are committed to engendering a sense of self-belief, self-worth and confidence in our students, along with attitudes of integrity and respect towards others.

We enjoy the privilege of being a diverse and inclusive school where each individual has an important role to play. We believe in giving students ownership of their learning, nurturing a sense of responsibility and providing opportunities for personal development.

Our beliefs, values and aims underpin all of our approaches to learning. Our high expectations are demonstrated through our classroom practice and through our curriculum design. We plan for enrichment, so that every individual can experience those special activities and events that add to their happiness and enjoyment of learning and of school.
