Extra Curriculum: Thinking Skills Day
Thinking Skills Programmes are dedicated days for Year 7 pupils to encourage team building and problem solving. We hope to encourage the students to become more resourceful and resiliant learners, helping them to develop independent learning skills that will support them throughout their lives.
On Thursday 17th April 2008 our Year 7 students took part in their fourth session building on the earlier thinking skills days.
Teachers from English, Science, Design Technology, PE, Modern Foreign Languages, Humanities, Drama, Music and Citizenship have all contributed to developing workshops that engage the students in extended learning activities. Elected Students from each form in Year 7 meet on a regular basis with members of staff to discuss these days and put forward ideas to help improve them. These representatives report back to their forms on what has been discussed and take suggestions to put forward at the next meeting.
The school hopes to develop Thinking Skills and Learning to Learn approaches further next year.
