Year 10 - Careers of the Future

It is the year 2020 and the year 10 class of 2008 from Wetherby High are well into their professional careers. But what will the job landscape be like 12 years from now? This is what Year 10 spent the day investigating with the help of course leader Stephanie, working for TLC Education.

Increased numbers of part time jobs, several career changes and working in employment sectors yet to be created are just some of the predictions for work patterns 12 years from now. This message was put across to participating pupils aimed at preparing them for what they can expect to face in the near future. Being flexible and multi skilled was the message of the day encouraging pupils to achieve in as many subjects as possible.

Students experienced a mixture of activities developing a deeper understanding of what life will be like beyond their time at Wetherby High. What type of lifestyle can a bricklayer, nurse or doctor expect to afford on a typical salary within that profession? Being aware of what might be needed to succeed in the future can help pupils focus and achieve in the present. This is something pupils will have taken away after completing the days activities.
